Traffic alerts for Hancock County drivers

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close Kentucky 334/River Road in Hancock County starting Wednesday, June 12.

This closure of KY 334 near the 8 mile marker is to allow placement of a bridge deck overlay on the Yellow Creek Bridge.

There will be no marked detour.  Work at this site is expected to take about 30 days to complete, weather permitting.

Intech Contracting is the prime contrator on this $366,602 group bridge repair project.

KY 891 in McLean County to close Wednesday

KY 891 in McLean County to close Wednesday

 

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close KY 891 in McLean County on Wednesday, May 15.

This daytime closure along KY 891 between the 0 and 3 mile marker is to allow the replacement of a cross drain to prepared for new pavement in this area later in the summer. 

This is in the in Buttonsberry area of McLean County.

A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to restrict traffic for asphalt paving along KY 1957 and KY 144 in Hancock County starting today.

Work is expected to start today along KY 1957, then move to KY 144.

Asphalt paving along KY 1957 runs from mile point 0.0 at US 60 to mile point 1.31 at Airport Road, a distance of 1.31 miles.

New asphalt coming to Calhoun, part of Hancock County

Governor Steve Beshear today announced that asphalt rehabilitation projects totaling more than $64 million have been awarded by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet as the spring construction season continues.

One of those projects is in McLean County.  It includes a nearly one-mile long section of Main Street-Veterans Memorial Drive (KY 81) in Calhoun from the north end of Green River Bridge to KY 136.

Road Builders LLC was awarded the contract for $162,132. 

Another stretch of road getting new pavement a 3.9-mile section of Owensboro-Lewisport Road (KY 334) in Hancock County from the county line to Knox Lane. Yager Materials LLC was awarded the contract for $245,349.

Completion date for the projects is November 13.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reminds you that state highway crews and contract crews have started litter pickup and mowing activities across the region.  Motorists are reminded that mowing equipment operators are required to cross travel lanes from time to time as they go about their work.  Motorists are reminded that a mowing zone requires the same caution as any other work zone.

Whenever you see a Mowing Zone sign please slow down and be alert.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close KY 334/River Road in Hancock County and Daviess County on April 23 and  24.

This planned closure on KY 334 is to allow the replacement of several cross drains in western Hancock County.

KY 334 will be closed each day from 8:00 a.m., CDT, to about 3:00 p.m., between mile point 1.52 at North Chestnut Grove Road in Daviess County and mile point 3.916 at Knox Lane in Hancock County
