Pikeville company looking for oil in Ohio County | News

They’re drilling for oil in Ohio County.

Crossrock Drilling Company out of Pikeville has drilled three wells in the county since December 15 and has a fourth project now underway near the former Ohio County Country Club. 

Property owner Howard Spinks told our media partner, the Ohio County Times that an older well has been re-opened on Dr. Charles Price’s property and reportedly is producing about two barrels of oil a day.

A spokesman for the drilling company says they are optimistic their work will lead to oil production. “If we can find something (oil), it will be a big economic boost for Ohio County,” Wesley Cate said.

The well being drilled on the Spinks property will be parallel drilled into an existing well. Cats did say his company wants to determine what kind of oil might be available in the area.
