HARTFORD, KY (WFIE)- An Ohio County couple facing murder charges appeared in court Thursday morning.
25-year-old Nathaniel Tucker and 23-year-old Samantha Oakley both had their pretrial conferences set for August 22, 2013 and Jury trials set to begin on October 1, 2013. Oakley's bond was set at $5,000. Tucker's bond was set at $500,000.
Officials say Tucker and Oakley will be tried separately.
Tucker and Oakley were indicted two weeks ago on additional charges in the case.
A grand jury returned a charge of being a persistent felony offender against Tucker, and Oakley was charged with murder.
They were arrested in October after the death of Oakley's 4-year-old son.
Tucker, who's Oakley's boyfriend, is accused of beating the child to death.
He was originally charged with murder, three counts of criminal abuse, and three counts of assault.
Oakley was originally charged with three counts of first degree criminal abuse.
Investigators say Oakley knew about the abuse and failed to report it.
According to state police, Oakley's other two young children also showed signs of abuse.
Oakley and Tucker are being held in the Ohio County Detention Center.
They're scheduled for arraignments around 10 a.m.
