HANCOCK CO., KY (WFIE)- After waiting over a year for construction, Hancock County's new library is open for business, and features a lot more options for its patrons.

Members of the Goodall family are regulars at the library, so they had to be at opening day.

"What we really like is the kids' section is on the main level. We don't have to go all the way downstairs," said Brad Goodall.

"It's so much broader. It's larger. You can see the books. You're able to see things you didn't even know the library had. I love their reading areas, the nooks," Jeni Goodall said.

The Goodalls say a new library was much needed.

"We have expanded so much and the community is growing," Jeni said.

"The new facility really draws more people in, and it's in an easier location to get to. Parking's not an issue. There's no real traffic," Brad said.

"This new location has 32 parking spots," library director, Tina Snyder said.

Technology is second to none at the new facility.

"In our rural setting, a lot of people in our community do not have access to Internet. We have 12 computers opposed to eight. We also have computers in the kids area where we had four before," Snyder said.

"A central location and having people here able to teach you how to use the technology is a great tool," Jeni said.

Workers at the library say meeting space has almost doubled.

"The old location didn't provide us a good spot to have a large gathering. We like to do programs for the community, bring in performers," said Snyder.

The library's grand opening is set for Friday at 1:00 p.m.
