Stop Senior Hunger drive delivers to over 300

Dozens of volunteers fanned out across Daviess and Hancock counties this week to make deliveries to over 300 needy senior citizens.

Nearly four tons of canned goods and other nonperishable food items were donated by shoppers at local supermarkets throughout April; and an additional $1,900 in cash was collected.

“We’re overwhelmed by the response,” said Levi Reames, owner of Comfort Keepers of Owensboro. “Once again this year, the community showed its heart for its less fortunate neighbors.”

Rosine ready for 40th Fall Festival

Rosine ready for 40th Fall Festival

As the Blue Moon shined over Kentucky last Friday night, Rosine was preparing for their upcoming Fall Festival scheduled for this weekend.  Rosine, the hometown of Bill Monroe, known around the world as the Father of Bluegrass Music, began their traditional festival as a Centennial Celebration 40 years ago and has now become the longest consecutive running festival in Ohio County.

Some area residents may remember the early days when the events were held by the railroad tracks in the small town.  Over the years it has changed a little and is now held in the Rosine Community Park just a block away.

The festival occurs on September 7 and 8 and is full of events.
