Former baseball star Darryl Strawberry is coming to Ohio County in a few weeks. That's according to our media partner, the Cromwell Group.
Strawberry will share his life story at the high school on Friday, April 12. He’ll be at Ohio County High School for a talk that begins at 7 p.m. (Doors open at 5:30pm). The presentation is called "The Power to Win: From Hardship to Hope”.
Appearing in eight straight All-Star Games from 1984-91, Strawberry played a key role on the New York Mets’ 1986 World Series championship team. He also helped the New York Yankees to championships in 1996 and ’98.
He’s battled cancer and drug problems in the past but now lives in St. Louis, running "The Darryl Strawberry Foundation," which helps children with autism. He’s an ordained minister.
Tickets for his appearance in Hartford are $7 in advance, $10 at the door. There are also $100 VIP tickets for a "meet and greet" which includes an autographed baseball, reserved seating, special parking and hors d'oeuvres.
All net proceeds from the event benefit the Kentucky Cancer Program.
