Santa Goes to the Dogs! | Community Spirit
Hear those sleigh bells ringing? They are calling you and your pets to the Owensboro PetSmart this weekend for Santa photos!
The Hancock County Animal Shelter (HCAS) in conjunction with the Owensboro PetSmart will have Santa Claus visiting on Sunday, December 16 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the store on Frederica Street. This is a chance for all dogs (and pets) as well as kids and adults to have their picture taken with Santa and give him their wish list! As a special addition this year, there is a rumor that Mrs. Claus might also make an appearance between 11 and 1. This is not just for pets, you are welcome to bring your children or additional family members also.
PetSmart charges $10 per photo, with $5 of that going directly to the shelter dogs medical fund. This also includes a frame so you can hang your picture on the tree or pose it on the mantle. This is a wonderful fundraiser for the HCAS, as they are a small county shelter that depends on their volunteers and the generosity of local donations from friends. As the county cannot pay for routine medical supplies for the dogs, these funds are badly needed to purchase things such as ear and eye cleaners, flea and tick medications and shampoos and prescribed medicines from the volunteer shelter veterinarian.
So dress up your pet in their best Christmas outfit and bring them by PetSmart on Sunday. The elf volunteers from the HCAS will be assisting Santa, so all you have to worry about is getting Precious in that perfect pose for Santa!
