Family honors Mary Lee Martin with designated endowment fund | Community Spirit
The Green River Area Community Foundation says family members of Hartford, Kentucky resident Mary Lee Martin recently recognized and honored her through establishing a new endowment fund for The Ohio County Family Wellness Center.
The announcement was made by Martin’s cousin, Carroll Douglas Stevens, who along with her husband, Frank, funded the newly created endowment. Stevens was invited to attend a board meeting of the Wellness Center under the auspices of sharing with the board his experiences as a professional fundraiser. “The truth is, I am here for a purpose much different than each of you are expecting, I am here to show my families appreciation to my cousin Mary for her diligence over the years to keep our family close even though there are many miles between each of us,” Stevens said. “We as a family discussed what we could do for Mary, and to fund an endowment for an organization that she is so passionate about seemed to be the perfect honor to bestow upon her.”
The Designated Endowment Fund will be used to support The Ohio County Family Wellness Center. This endowment ensures ongoing reliable support for the center while enabling the growth of the Fund in order to keep pace with the rate of inflation. The family or any other interested person or organization may add assets to the fund at anytime. “We hope to see this fund grow so that future generations will be able to reap the many benefits of the center we currently enjoy.” said Frank Martin.
The Green River Area Community Foundation exists to provide donors easy, flexible and efficient ways to convert personal or business assets into lasting support for each donor’s charitable interests. Total assets committed to the Community Foundation have grown to nearly $14.5 million dollars with a total of 57 funds within its resources. Grants and Scholarships distributed in 2012 amounted to over $230,000.
